Java scripts not running on laptop

  i've no idea 22:03 09 Jan 2006

Hi all,

Have been trying to get some quotes for home insurance online and on a couple of sites have tried to access URL's which seem to contain java scripts. when I select these links nothing happens? Do i need to activate something on the browser (am using IE)?
Any help appreciated.

Do you get error messages or just a blank screen?

Make sure that JavaScript is enabled on your computer:
1. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu
2. In Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab.
3. Click Custom level button at bottom. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.
4. Under Scripting category enable Active Scripting, Allow paste options via script and Scripting of Java applets
5. Click OK twice to close out.
6. Hit Refresh..

Reset your security settings in IE to Medium (only if you don't specifically set them yourself) or add the sites you are using to get quotes to your Trusted Zone. Do you run anti-virus/antispyware?

Have checkec settings and they are correct.

Am running AVG software including firewall. Could this be causing problem?

Not very likely, what firewall is that, I've never encountered the entire package...

Do you have a popup stopper if you have turn it off and try again...

Version7 of AVG incorporates a firewall

Check for `script blocking` options and disable them, or disable the AVG firewall, enable the XP one and try the site again, switch back once done.
