After importing a cd to the library ok it goes back to the beginning of the cd and starts over again. I have to click on the x to stop or go to eject disc in controls to stop it importing the cd again.
How can I just import the cd just once please

you've got it to automatically import a cd every time you're insterting it - quite why it dosn;t understand you've already imported it I don't know!

Load up Itunes
then
EDIT

PREFERENCES

ADVANCED

IMPORTING

and change

ON CD INSERT

from IMPORT SONGS AND EJECT

to SHOW SONGS

That should solve it; failing that try reinstalling itunes

Sorry for the delay in getting back but have just implemented your suggestion Many thanks its corrected it and works brilliantly. The only other query I have is when I try and get info on a cd..song titles etc I click on 'get cd titles' and I get the message' Unable to connect to CDDB server. The network connection was refused please check that you are connected to the Internet...which I am

Have you any thoughts please as this is a whole new area to me

make sure itunes isn't being blocked by your firewall.

Your welcome, Itunes can be a pain at times, never mind other programs! :-)
