Issue 126 Jan 2006 Cover CD Serif WebPlus 7.0

  vikingcolumbus 04:21 10 Jan 2006

Greetings Everybody,

I have installed the program Serif WebPlus 7.0
from PCADVISOR issue 126 to Windows 95.

From all 'appearances' the program installed
without errors.

Upon launching the program for first time,
a registration window entitled Registration Wizard
appears. A blank window! Needless to say one is
thus stymied from using this software from Serif.

Anyone else experience this 'problem'.

I must say that I have had too often similiar
experience with registering Serif's 'freebie'
software. It is always challenging or so I have

Thanking anyone who replies with suggestions.

Hi VikingColumbus

Have spoken with Serif about this, and it sounds like your browser settings.

To display the registration screen you need to take encoding off autoselect and set to Western European (Windows).

Toolbar> View> Encoding

Hopefully that should do the trick

Please post a response to tell us whether this has worked for you.

Hello Richard,

Perhaps I should have clarified that I do
not get any browser launched when starting
WebPlus 7.0 for the first time, or at any time
with repeated attempts. The registration window
which presents is simply a pop-up and blank. When
I close it the preliminary WebPlus graphic prior to the registration window showing - disappears as well.

Don't even have a chance to adjust a browser's

Thought I would let you know that, having the same problem with this and other serif products, the solution as suggested bt CD editor did NOT work.

I have spoken to Serif twice to both sales and tech dept previous to this post, neither able to resolve the problem.

Good Luck.

Hello, flyboy

I will not be snared again - time wise -
dealing with this outfit.

Incidentially, I tried installing it to
a secondary OS and WebPlus 7.0 screwed up
fonts which a long-time and valued program
used. Still working on a recovery.

I mean, I've been installing software for
many years. From PCPLUS, PCW, PCadvisor, .NET
to name a few mags and Serif's so-called free
software routinely demonstrate unreliable
registration scheme(s).

I will not be sirened again by Serif's
generous offers. Not worth it.

Thanks for your post,
