How do you find the Ip adress of individual computers I'm trying to find the out as my firewall wont allow me access to the 2 I've got running on a network without switching the firewall off Cheers
you don't say which OS, so:
Windows 95/98
Press Start
Choose Run
Type winipcfg
Windows NT
Press Start
Choose Run
Type ipconfig
Windows 2000 and Windows XP
Run the command prompt (usually under Start > Programs > Accessories)
Type ipconfig /all
Start, Run, Type:
cmd /k ipconfig /all
Click OK.
This is for XP, dont remeber the command for 98 etc.
Ok thanks for that I'll give it a try and see if I can sort it out, it's proving a real trial this one I'm running zone alarm and have to turn it off everytime to connect
Your trying to connect all computers on the network so that they can all share files, but ZA is blocking it all?
In ZA click, Firewall, Zones, Add, IP Address.
Enter the IP and give a description.
Click OK.
This should tell ZA to allow the IP you gave, access. Without ZA making a fuss.
Thanks for that I've got it working through the firewall now
