invalid page faults (always) at 0197.bff*****

Mornin' all,

I am running 98se.
Opera7.2.
IE6.02800

I have been experiencing various "invalid page faults at 0197:bff*****" mostly caused by "Explorer in module KERNEL32.DLL" but also by Opera "in module FONTMANAGER.DLL, or" in module Opera.exe" also at 0197:bff*****.

It is always at 0197:bff*****.

This leads me to believe that I have a problem with 0197:bff*****

Does anyone know what function/process this represents, so I can maybe correct the problem?

I have searched the net, but come up with nothing, except this:
"The following conditions can cause KERNEL32.DLL error messages:
Damaged swap file
File allocation damage
Damaged password list
Damaged or incorrect version of the KERNEL32.DLL file
Damaged registry
Hardware, hot CPU, over clocking, broken power supply, RF noise, ground bounce, or bad hard disk controller
BIOS settings for Wait states, RAM timing, or other BIOS settings
Third-party software that is damaged or incorrectly installed
.DLL files that are saved to the desktop
Non-existent or broken Temp folder
A control panel (.CPL) file is damaged
Incorrect or damaged hardware driver
Incorrectly installed printer drivers or HP Jetadmin drivers
Damaged Java Machine
Damaged .LOG files
Damaged entries in the History folder
Incompatible or damaged dynamic link library files
Viruses
Damaged or incorrect MSINFO32.EXE file
Low disk space
Other problems that depend on the Kernel file

As I said I would most like to know what the 0197:bff***** represents.

I acknowlege that it could be a registry error (or some of the other above-mentioned causes):I have been trying to clean out Teknum Systems(very, very persistant-just won't go) and old Opera entries. But I have several reg backups from around then, and don't know which to try-I have never restored a reg backup, and am a bit hesitant about doing so.

My gratitude for any help,
PcB

I'm sorry about that long unpunctuated paragraph..unfortunately as this forum does not permit previews of posts, one cannot tell how it will turn out. I have just tried re-pasting the whole posting into the form, and it looks fine pre-submition. It obviously gets de-formatted along the way?
