Using Outlook Express I have received some attachments which my Corell Photo House refuses to open with a box telling me "Invalid file format".Properties tell me these are EML files.
I also have a JPEG file which also refuses with the message "Invalid Header"

Ques.What are INvalid Headers/file formats.
What are eml files.
And how do I Validate these .

Thanks.

If your program accepts these file formats ask the sender to re send them. Sometimes the packets of the emails whilst sending do get massed up, but it is very rare.

How to configure Windows to open .eml extension attachments

Click Start | Settings | Folder Options | File Types

Scroll to Outlook Express Mail message and double click it.

Double click 'open'.

In "Application used to perform this action"
enter the following:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /eml:%1

Click OK to close the window

Not too sure about the JPEG, but I think whoever sent the EML has saved the email and then sent it as an attachment instead of saving the attachment they received (using the paperclip icon) and sending that as an attachment.

Hope this helps/makes sense...

Zaxiphone:
I think you maybe right there, both "eml" messages were forwarded to me

  Megatyte 15:15 05 Apr 2003

Click Start | Settings | Folder Options | File Types.

Click New Type.
In Content Type(Mime) enter message/rfc822
In Description of Type enter Outlook Express Mail Message
In Default Extension for content Type enter .eml
In the Actions box enter open
Select Confirm open after Download
Click OK
You may have to re-start OE for these changes to take effect.
When done refer to my previous post

Megatyte:

I have tried to follow your instructions but seem not to have the same dialogue boxes.
After file types; clicking "New" gives me: Create new Extension and a typing window.
However I did try to follow and received a message saying eml is associated with OE.
Highlighting EML in folder options, tells me that files with extension EML are of type Outlook Express Mail Message. To change settings........etc
It would appear that the OS recognizes them ,just doesn't open them.
Sorry

In outlook express, right click on the attachment window with the eml. Click properties then details. you should be able to see the picture in the detail box. You can right click save picture, or copy paste to picture app.
