Internet Web Page Speeds

  The Mad Monk 00:07 10 Aug 2004

I have a home network. My second PC is faster than the main one when viewing web pages (like much faster). The fact that it is a slower processer baffles me. Shoud they be the same (ish) One is 1.7 Ghz and the other is 2.6. The 1.7 PC has a 64 Mb graphics card whereas mine has built in graphics. Any ideas why it is much faster?

Both use Win Xp by the way

Processor and graphics cards have no noticeable effect on surfing. A friend of mine uses a 266mhz, 64mb, ancient rig with XP on it (yes, I did write XP so one in the eye for those that say you need a trillion Mbs and a PentiumXXI to run XP) and his surfing speeds are little difference to any other dial up connection with a faster computer.
