Is Internet Explorer Unsafe?

  gel 12:21 16 Aug 2008

I use Firefox as my browser and use Internet Explorer very rarely
On the McAfee web site this morning it was suggested that IE6 is unsafe and that even if the default browser is Firefox the Internet Explorer should be upgraded to IE7.
Would some one comment please

I use IE6 alongside Firefox - not had any problems at all, though like yourself I only use IE occasionally.

personally i have upgraded to IE7 even though i use Flock.
i seem to recall a couple of months ago there was an article about how unsafe it was. so yes would be your answer, it would be worth upgrading

Is it unsafe? No.
Especially as you don't use it.
It is less secure than IE7.

However if like me you use FF and only require IE to go to MS sites for updates, then there is nothing to worry about.

You can use IE View with Firefox. See:

Still best, in the meantime, to upgrade to IE7.
