Internet Explorer 8 won't work

  RD9 12:28 17 Jun 2009

Have just accepted Windows update for Internet Explorer 8 and now Internet Explorer won't work. I get the message 'Internet Explorer 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close.' I have tried restoring my machine but haven't been able to. I am running Windows XP. I can open emails and I can get onto my web based game World of Warcraft.
Would appreciate some advice - am not very technical.

Go into Add and remove programs and uninstall IE 8. It will revert back to IE 7.

Thanks a lot rawprawn - sorted - very grateful. Do you know why IE 8 caused problems?

Once you have removed this IE 8, then go to click here and make sure that you hide that IE 8 from updating in the future.

Thanks for the advice TIMBO. I don't have Microsoft Update because I don't want to be pestered with updates for other Microsoft products. I just have automatic updates for Windows XP. Certainly won't be accepting IE 8 in future.
