Recently I clicked on to one of my favourites sites and it came out of internet explorer and went back to my desktop so i went back to IE and noticed that the favourite I clicked on had a small RED asterisk in the top left hand corner.
I got in touch with Blueyonder broadband and they said they had never heard of a RED asterisk appearing on a favourites entry.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem, I have checked all the security settings, I am running Windows XP Home with an up to date anti virus and the firewall enabled.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you post the address of the site?

Do you have this site marked as 'Synchronised for off-line viewing'? If so, the red asterisk indicates that the site has been changed, and needs to be updated (re-synchronised).

Within IE, go to Tools > Internet Options and choose to delete your temporary internet files.

Does IE also close if you click on the link from Favourites?

I had allready deleted the temporary files.
IE tries to load page then closes to desktop

No it works fine for me in Internet Explorer, Opera and Mozilla.

I just noticed the redirection and wondered if that was connected to your problem ... obviously not.
