Internet connection problems

  Brirev 22:42 03 Jan 2005

Hi there. I've just got a new laptop and established an Internet connection. After c6minutes every new request for info comes back with "page not available". I've tried a different ISP on the same PC and the same thing happens. Meanwhile, fortunately, my other PC is still working fine. Any ideas what I should do to fix it?
(I was getting the occasional "Messanger" (I'm not sure if I've got this name right)message coming through but without any timeout problem, I installed SP2 which blocked a couple of outgoing requests but since then I've had this "timeout" problem.)

I think you will find you need to download Free ZoneAlarm and turn the Windows Firewall off as it's no use for anything. Also Messenger should be Disabled. The Firewall I think is stopping you getting anywhere

PS also get Firefox or Netscape browser they are safe than IE6

Thanks for the advice.

What I did was go back to the restore point when I first got the machine, installed anti-virus software, disabled various options and everything works fine now.

Thanks again.
