internet connection

I wrote to you some time back, re my failure to establish an internet connection + email. I've since tried a reinstall with the CD provided for broadband connection-it showed on the screen that there was a connection failure between PC and broadband hub, but I immediately received all emails which were previously blocked off-but still I am unable to connect to the internet!! Can anyone suggest any solutions.!!

You must be connected to the Internet to receive E.mails.
Have you tried right clicking on local area connection.And pressing repair.[The two little screens beside the clock or in control panel.
What are you using I.E7 or Firefox.

If Internet Explorer.Maybe try Firefox and see if you can connect with that.

If using an Ethernet connection try switching your Modem off for a minute and then switch it on again.see if that helps.

I did as suggested and switched broadband/PC off a few times-eventually it worked and I am now on internet with Mozilla Firefox-albeit my PC performance is a bit slow. However many thanks to everyone who responded.
