Internet Banking - ? in amount field

  lpl56407 11:18 20 Dec 2003

This is a repost - thought it was resolved. As per the other post I changed a regional setting, restarted the PC and was OK. But now the problem has recurred and regional setting is OK.

The problem:
I am using XP Home. Whatever site I visit that has sterling amount fields a ? precedes the amount. Never really bothered about it until today when I tried to transfer some money via my Internet Bank. When I enter the amount - 500.00 it changes to ?500.00 and I get a response of inavlid amount field. Same happens if I delete the ? and try again. Strange one. Any ideas please?

thta you're only entering 500.00 and not £500.00. In otherwords it isn't the £ sign that's changing to a ?

Who you using for Internet banking?

Definitely just entering 500.00 and it's Natwest Online Banking

Sounds like a keyboard recognition problem, US keyboards have a different layout to UK the "?" sign is in a different place as are a couple of other symbols, have you got the latest UK kb drivers ? "£"

Did you change both the regional and the keyboard settings to "UK English"

Try control panel/ regional & Language options make sure it is English United Kingdom

Also, remove any reference in Keyboard settings box to Engish (United States). However - Didn't the PCA site do this for a while after its recent facelift?

Also in IE6 click on tools/internet options and from the general tab you will see a button near the bottom, "Languages".

Click on that and you should see.

English (United kingdom)[EN-GB]

That's the way it's set out in mine, including the parenthesis and brackets. Hope this helps. j.

Everything is set to UK English and as per Djohn's post the setting is as he states.
Here is a statement example from Online Banking

18 Dec 2003 BAC Automated Credit ?1,971.10
18 Dec 2003 S/O Standing Order ?12.00
18 Dec 2003 CHQ 002909 ?750.00
18 Dec 2003 D/D Direct Debit ?42.98
19 Dec 2003 OTR OnLine Transaction ?500.00
19 Dec 2003 POS Card Transaction ?25.00

So it's not just when I key and enter an amount that ? gets put in front.

Is this something that has just started to happen, or is it a long standing problem?

If a recent problem, have you downloaded or installed any programs to your PC?
