Internet Access

My pc crashed on Saturday during Windows software update - now I can't get on to the internet, there appears to be no problem with the internet connection.

Can anyone help?

i would try a system restore first

If that fails then, perhaps, a few more details, like OS, Router model, Wireless (?) etc would help the more knowledgeable people (of which there are quite a few) to help you.

Good luck scoombsie

Zone Alarm ?

If so set your permissions to medium.
Download ZA update.

There were conflicts with KB 951748

Good Luck

I have tried changing permissions on Zonealarm, and that hasn't worked.

I am using Windows XP, Firefox Browser. My internet is through Sky, and that looks to be ok.

start - settings - network connections - right click your network - properties - re enter the router password

I had a similar problem when my pc was downloading xp service pack 3. The only way I could access the internet was to type the actual ip address of a site into the browser address bar. Obviously not a practical means of accessing the internet. After trying a few diagnostics I found that the issue was with windows itself due to the update. System Restore has got me up and running again. I have yet to try downloading sp3 again.
