i am about to purchase an internal cd rw. what is the difference tween cd- rw and dvd cd-rw. and will any make fit my compaq pressio 5471.

blank CD's the DVD CDR is for Recording DVD Films and will also record the same as you can with the CD RW.

I cannot answer the other part of the question as we need more specification about your pc.

dvd holds approx 6 times that of a cd.

It depends a bit what you mean.

A CD-RW reads and writes CDs

A DVD-RW reads and writes DVDs and CDs

A combined DVD/CD-RW is a two in one drive that incorporates both a DVD reader (only) and a CD-RW in a single unit
