Does any Forum Member know any reason if a Intel Q6700 2.66GHz OEM CPU would not work correctly using WinXP Pro 32bit ?

As a temporary measure I am desparate to replace my Ageing AMD X2 Nvidia Chipset motherboard running XP Pro and as the new Gigabyte M/board is Windows 7 Cert I just wanted to start to change over the hardware ASAP

All I need to know is would it cause any problem with using a Q6700 Quad Core on a XP pro as long as the motherboard support the CPU. Or re-worded will XP run ok with a Quad Core ?

Yes of course it will run on a quad core processor

It is applications that make use of the multithreading and 64 bit architecture of multicore processors
