Installing XP

  Jessie 11:30 06 Sep 2003

I am trying to install Xp on a PC with Win 98. I thought if I booted to XP cd it would format drive. However it informs me I will cause problems installing on a drive with another operating system installed. It does not give me the format option.
If I boot to the A prompt, to format it myself, I have been typing format c: should it be something else? For future reference, how do I format a drive with XP already on it?
Would be grateful for any suggestions

You must read very carefully the options when installing XP - many folk make the mistake of misunderstanding what's being offered and making the wrong choice.

If you want to do a clean install be prepared that you'll receive a series of dire warnings but bear in mind that on every screen there is a "Back" button so don't be put off.
