Installing Win 98 over Win 95

Can you successfully install Windows 98 over Windows 95a without formatting your hard disk.

I'm sure that you can, but generally a clean install is by far the best install.........

if you have w98 upgrade you can, but if you have full version, you can't.

If you have 95 at present, then 98 or better 98SE is well worth the effort. "Upgrading" could be a path to tears. It didn't always work as intended.

If you can steel yourself, a clean install is by far the best way.......... If your hard drive is not partitioned, it may be worth using Partition Magic to make a small "safe place" for your data first. Assume you have all the installation disks for your applications.

98SE is as far as you should go for the present, life gets very complicated for an old motherboard if you become too ambitious.
