Installing Norton Antivirus Failure

PC: Dell Dimension 4400, Windows XP Home Service Pack 1

My attempt to install my downloaded annual upgrade of Norton Antivirus software fails with the message "Error 1324: The folder path My Pictures contains an invalid character" My efforts to rectify this via Symantec, Microsoft and Dell have failed. Dell advise reloading Windows which I am reluctant to do. I have renamed the My Pictures folder to no effect. Micrsoft knowledge base article 242913 describes how to resolve the problem for Works/HP 2000 but this does not help!

why are you trying to install the NAV update to your My Pictures folder??? Just asking.

AVG is easier to use, updates are easy to download and regular. it is also free.
