would be grateful for some advice. I have a Maxtor 60 gb udma 133 dide 2 mb buffer, and I would like to replace it with Samsung SpinPoint P80 SP1614N - hard drive - 160 GB - ATA-133, the motherboard is an Asus 3337, would the Samsung be compatable. Also would I reqire different cables. I have searched a lot on this subject but I am still confused with it all, ie SATA PATA EIDE, IDE AT-2. The more I read the more confused I become. Regards Rob

Just treat the newcomer as a secondary HD?
I chipped in before the thread gets filled with tech stuff.

as stated just install it as a second drive. dont forget to connect to the correct connection on the ribbon cable, and set the jumpers on both drives ( this is already listed in many responces ) all you then need to do is partion and format ( again many responces are listed)
