Installing ME on an old laptop

  lofty 17:45 30 Aug 2006

I have an old laptop with no os. I want to install ME from a CD. The laptop has a cd & floppy drive but the bios does not allow 'boot from cd' only hd or diskette.
Anyone have any ideas to help.
I do not have ME installed on any other computer.

OK, my laptop has a "boot button". If I click F12 during the boot proccess, I can select what to boot from. If not you will need to create a boot floppy. You will need DOS running on a Windows PC. I think you can use Command Prompt. click here

You need a bootdisk, of the floppy persuasion.

Boot with the floppy - patition and format as desired - reboot from the floppy - change dir to the CD and run the setup program.
