Installed XP now cant watch DVD- region 2 problem

  muscic lover 16:24 18 Jun 2005

I have bought and installed windows XP (+service pack 2), now i have a dvd player installed on the New Laptop, but when i put on my sons Simpson DVD to watch, the error screen pops up saying that my dvds can only be region 1!! Doh!! I obviously need (and want to ) watch region 2.
The windows XP was bought from Novatech and i sa genuine copy.

Does anybody know how i can make media player let me see region 2 DVD's???

Most frustrating!

Anyone with more brains than Homer can probably help me out on this one....I seem to have Homers brain and cant manage this!

Thanks for your help in advance

Bring up Device Manager in My Computer. Double click on your DVD drive and from the window select properties. From properties you will see a tab allowing you to change the region. (You have five changes on new drives) or four if its already set and after this the drive will be locked to the last region you selected.
