Installed USB Front Panel - now PC won't turn off

  D E A N O 08:46 02 Dec 2008

I've just installed one of those USB front panels in one of the empty CD Rom bays. It works off the rear USB ports (not the internal header on the motherboard). When the computer is asked to shut down, Windows will shut down but the PC will remain on until the front panel is disconnected from the ports at the back. I am running Windows XP on an MSI board with sinlge core AMD Athlon CPU. Any ideas?

Try using Safely Remove Hardware that appears in the Notification Area.
Close down the device before switching off.

You could also check for any leads that may of been knocked and dislodged when installing the the front panel.

Why is my canon printer being recognised as a USB mass storage devise when switched on. This has only just happened over the last few weeks. Comes up as found new hardware! It is in Control panel 'printers folder' and properties say this is working correctly. VISTA O/S
