Increased memory

I seem to remember reading you need ECC memory if over 512MB.Is this correct or can i increase from 512 to 1GB without any special requirements? Is it worth it running XP?

xp will happily run more than 512mb of ram if your mothherboard can support it.older versions of windows like win98 do not like any more than 512ram.

ecc memory is not normally used in home computers, some use it but most dont(it checks itself for errors and is normally used in servers)

click here and look at the "find your system here" box.fill in the info and it will tell you how much and what type of ram your motherboard can work with.

ps.i have yet to come across a program or game etc that will use more than 512mb.

maybe soon though :-)
