Hi I am new-ish to computers,I have a second hand Win 98PC, when I first got it it played sound, but of late I have nothing. I went into the DirX and this came up on the list-'Inactive Sound Entries in Registry' and underneath it had'none. Plus it said 'Failed at Step 19' Can anyone make any sense of this and help me!!!!

It could be that the drivers for the sound have become corrupted. Do you know what sort of sound card is in the machine?

Everest is a little program that will tell you the hardware inside the machine and thus what drivers you need.

Also, right click on my computer, choose properties and then device manager. See if there are any yellow exclaimation marks.
