IE8 - Causing Havoc!

  dewskit 10:51 06 Apr 2009

IE8 came up as an offering on the BTYahoo home page, and I assumed it would be safe to install it.

All seemed to go OK, but when I shut down and later restarted found my computer was unusable as everything froze up, CTR ALT DEL did nothing and had to power down and restart.

I then went back to a restore point prior to installing IE8 and everything seemed to revert to normal. However on shutting down again and restarting, found I have the same problem back.

Have now got it working again by using the same restore point, but how can I stop it starting up next time with the duff installation?

Found a previous thread which said IE8 could be deleted, but when I go into the Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs, IE8 does not appear, just IE, and am worried that if I delete this I will be without any internet access!

Please help someone.

Many thanks in advance

If you have gone back to an early date then IE* should not be there anymore

IE* = IE8

Thanks Everyone

The "Show Updates" was the secret. Now removed and system restarts as a working computer again!

Thanks again
