I.E.7 Problems

  RubyTuesday 18:59 23 Apr 2007

Hi there....Ever since I bought a new Laptop with Vista and IE7 installed on it, I.E.7 is driving me nuts!! About every hour and half, Internet Explorer closes down and wont re-start unless I unplug my modem and wait 10 minutes before plugging it back in again! Is it ok if I uninstall I.E.7 and replace it with I.E.6 ??

Hi, uninstall IE7 using the normal Control Panel Add/Remove. Yes it is OK, you can re-install IE6.

I doubt you can uninstall IE7 on a Vista machine as i think this intergrated with Vista.
Though i maybe wrong.

Hi, good point, I hadn't thought of that! But worth a try anyway I guess.

Just something to check.

In IE7:

Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Settings/Advanced/untick any boxes like disconnect if idle or when connection is not needed.

Also check:

Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Settings/Properties/Options/Make sure the idle time before hanging up is set to Never.

I think IE7 is excellent. if you are having trouble then do try Firefox, it's very similar but you may be better off with it. I returned to IE7 for one very small feature unavailable in FF, a personal whim really.

But that link is for XP only unless im mistaken.

IE7 is good, but has fatal incomaptibilites with certain apps (e.g. Easy Media Creator V7). My bro had this problem, so uninstalled IE7 and then PC would not boot!!!

Yeah, but I read all the way through it, and it is nor really too clear, 'cos it is a Vista site talking about uninstalling IE7, I would be inclined to try it anyway, if it was me.
