Is there any way possible by using the Ie5.5 in Win98Se to stop my children from not being able to view Adult x sites.

I have a feeling its something to do with the Internet Explorers security & Options settings but its not clear on how to set the settings to protect against the younger user against Adult sex sites.

Really prefer to use just IE5.5 to do this and not a 3rd part programme due to age and memory resources on pc as its a old dog with 16MB Simm and P166 Cyrix.

Also if this would cause problems viewing legitamate websites please advise.

I use IE6, i can't remember how its done on IE5, but its probably the same for both. Go to,
Tools / Internet Options, click the "Content" tab, then click "Enable" on the Content Advisor section. Its straight forward from there.

Tools, internet options, content, content advisor.

You can set guidleines for nudity, swearing, violence etc. but it is far from perfect.

IE6 gives you a slide bar to specify what content is acceptable. It has different categories, Language, Nudity, Sex, Violence. It shouldn't cause any problems, it just depends what level you have the slider set at.

Ghost-in-U, as Lú-tzé says the Internet explorer settings are far from perfect, pretty useless actually. click here for some freeware Child Safe Internet software. I think you'll find them rather more effective.

Can someone tell me or Belatucadrus will this run on a computer with only 16MB SIMM RAM, Cyrix P166 and is it one of them programms which expire after a month ?.

because most porn sites actually bypass all the filters. But if you want a free one that has worked for me...

Try downloading Agnitum Firewall Free edition and if anyone has it you will know that it has a keyword filter and if you enter:
sex
f***
f****g
wan***g
hacking
hack
porn
Bas****

and lots more you can think of will filter out pages with the keywords in. Also have the content advisor on too. Not only does the Firewall do this it stops your computer from being attacked from hackers.

If you are on dial-up tell the program you do not want it to update on start-up or it dials the net every time your Pc starts up.

Ghost-in-U, here are the links to the software developers sites system requirements, neither program is time limited.

click here for iProtectYou system requirements. Needs 16Mb so you just about qualify.

click here We-Blocker unfortunately needs 64Mb so it's ruled itself out.

Hope that helps.
