IDE on new mobo

Hi all, thinking of upgrading to a new MOBO. I note that they all seem to come with 1 IDE port and multiple SATA ports.
As I have 4 IDE hard drives and 2 IDE dvd writerers, if I connect a PCI IDE controller card, will I be able to use or must i have an SATA HD to boot from?

No you can boot from an IDE device if you wish to. It would just require c hecking the bios settings.

You would be using the IDE controller on the motherboard to boot and not the controller card.
