IBM Thinkpad 380DX LAN problem

I have just purchased a second-hand laptop. It had XP Home installed to it(even tho' its only a 233Mhz CPU + 64Mbs EDO RAM)by it previous owner.I restored it to 98se as XP was running so slowly. My probs are with the CreditCard sized plugin, its labelled Xircom Ethernet+33.6 Modem.I have managed to get the modem side of it working, but several drivers later have found the LAN port refuses to work.

If the modem side works, the card is surely in good working order?

I had a readup of specs/upgrades,etc for it and it would seem its already equiped with as much of them as can be fitted.

Can I still buy the creditcard type plugins(PCMCIA?)suitable for it? The machine appears to be circa 1999-2000

Bought new PCM cards to resolve.
