Hyperlinking PDF and CAD files to Excel

  accord 18:37 03 Dec 2003

Good evening people

I need to add hyperlinks into an excel spreadsheet of pdf and CAD files.

I know how to do a standard hyperlink but am confused on how to do the following:

In one cell I will put a part number of a product, in another cell a hyper link to a pdf file and in another cell a hyperlink to a CAD file.

This spreadsheet will need to go onto a CDRom for my customer to use with the pdf and CAD files also to go onto the CDRom.

Heres the tricky bit.....

Can I hyperlink the pdf and CAD files to the CDRom from the spreadsheet.

So basically... the customer will load the CDRom, open the spreadsheet and then access the pdf and CAD files from the CDRom.

Hope this makes sense

Thanks in advance for your help

If all the files are in the same folder there should not be a problem. I've just run a test by entering

in a cell. MSGBOX.TXT is in the same folder.

Clicking on the link opens the file in Notepad.

Cheers VoG for the quick response.

So from that, I will need to create a folder with all the pdf files in and another folder with all the CAD files in.

On the CDRom I would then have the excel file with 2 other folders with the above in.

Or.... do I have everything in one folder???

The easiest way is to have everything in one folder. Otherwise your hyperlink will need to be the full path to each file.
