hsm sink window

Closing down my Toshiba laptop this morning it hung with the message "hsm sink window not responding". A few minutes before there was also a message about the wireless network having no or limited connectability. Searching Google for hsm sink window doesn't come up with much; can anyone help, please?

This is more than likely a startup program not responding.

Try reducing the startup programs:

Start/Run and type MSCONFIG and select startup, now untick everything except your AV and Firewall, also leave any realtime Antispyware program ticked. Now reboot.

This will not cure the problem as we do not know what exactly is causing the problem.

Though you could try disabling one at a time from MSCONFIG and reboot to identify the culprit.

from what I gleened off Google HSM is Hierarchical Storage Management(HSM) utility for Windows NTFS file systems.
Do you have anything like this on your system?

Thanks for that info. I'll follow your points up and report back. So far, this has been the only occurrence of this problem.
