HP OfficeJet 6100 cant share on network

  Mark8882 11:45 28 May 2004

I have a HP OfficeJet 6100 and have it connected via USB to a desktop PC. I have shared it on the network but even with the driver disk cannot get other machines to connect to it.

Is there any way that I can get the driver to have it as a mapped network printer?

The printer is installed on an XP Pro machine and I am trying to connect a Win98SE machine. Havent had this problems before.

I am running XP on both machines so I'm not sure about this but have you run Network setup wizard on xp and created a disk to set up the 98 machine.
Then I think you need to go to printer folder and enable sharing printer on the XP and add a printer on the 98 machine. Like I say it might be diferent with 98.

On Xp I just ran the wizard on both machines, enabled sharing on the host pc and added printer on the 2nd pc.

Just a thought I had to disable xp built in firewall because I could'nt print from 2nd PC.
