Hi there,

Recently got a HP NC6000 laptop, well kindly donated to me from a big company liquidation..

Anyway the problem is they have set a BIOS password to it, and I cannot get further than this to acess windows.

I have tried the cmos battery, I have left this unplugged from the pcb, as there is no jumper for it i can see. this was doen for bout an hour, then plugged it all back in and still it asks for password??

Does anyone have any ideas? I have read on google that their was this problem when the two companies merged, and people have had to leave it 72 hours?

Leave the password blank, just hit 'enter'.

Thanks alot. I am at the moment trying to leave it all disconnected as I suspect it being modern it has a capacitor to back up the charge to the battery and is holding the voltage. So I shall leave it for a few days and try again.
The link makes good reading.
