HP LaserJet 5 Page count

  alexgray104 09:22 06 Dec 2005

Good Morning,
I wondering over whether to purchase a HP LaserJet 5 printer from the office sell off. I just need your advice on a few things though. 1) It says on the page count 82,140. Is this good for a Printer of this age. Also, does anybody know where I can find cheap toners, should I buy it. Many thanks in advance for your help.

The question to ask is when was the print drum last changed? That might well be on the way out.

Do you know when a print drum should be changed, nobody seems to know here. If the page count is 82,140 and the print drum has never been changed, what would the consequences be/how long would it last. Thanks for the response.

I don't know about the page count. The decision to buy it should be based on price - if you can get it for about £20 then take the chance; otherwise get a new printer.

HP laserjets at the bottom end of the scale can be purchased for about £60 and are very good quality and value.

Thanks for your advice, minimum selling it for is £15 so I'll take a chance and see if I can get it for that price.

Should have mentioned toners - I get an occasional viking own brand for a laserjet 4L and its good value.

If the printer is working, then for £15 you can't really go wrong.
