Neighbour XP PCEverything fine until Friday. Switched on and loads of smoke. Switched off and left. Switched on. Now OK but after Windows XP Loading Blue Slider PC flashes a STOP message and reboots. How can i get to read this message? Is the smoke and the message likely to be related or co-incidence. Everything seems fine... Looking at the PC it would appear to have been burning dust...
Morning Jester.Control Panel, then go to the Advanced tab, then Startup and RecoveryIn the System Failure tab, you will see a checkbox "Automatically restart"Uncheck it..
Morning....Now the interesting bit. If i can't get into the Control Panel (cos the PC won't get passed the funny blue Win XP loading scroller - left to right thing) then how do i achieve this????;-)
Tried safe mode?
Or last known good config?
Safe Mode - same.Last Known Config - tried but no good...
Do you think its a hardware issue? if not the how bout a repair installation?
I do. But not sure where to start really..
Wil it start in Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
Nope - not even the exotic "Debugging Mode" None of 'em...I can remove the hard drive and backup data to my PC wipe and reinstall but if it hardware then it might still come back.As i say "Re-install is the last option you should take"I'll have another look for burnt out parts after some food...Cheers
smoke out of the pc case.i would investigate it before switching it on again, have a look inside.there must be some sort of trace
