Run System file checker and have your original disk for 98 to hand.

Start pc on W98 start-up floppy.

opt for start Pc with CDrom support

Go into drive that contains your W98 setup CD

Open Win98 folder/directory

Open Tools folder/directory

Open Sysrec folder/directory

type at the prompt:

hit enter key and follow instructions.
(Not a spelling error) pcrestor is actually pcrestor.bat

Just follow on screen instructions.

Pcrestor will then repair Win98 without the loss of drivers and your settings settings. It is also fully automatic with no user input whatsoever.

The only thing it does though, is, it sets your pc to US regional settings and keyboard to US english. This is easily overcome in control panel after completion.

Just click on Regional settings and opt for your region and then on Keyboard to select your country's keyboard layout, then set it as the default.

Hope this helps!

All the best
