How Remove 'MyStart' search bar from Int. Explorer?

  Legslip 21:50 17 Jun 2012

Can anyone advise on how to completely remove this irritant from my PC? It isn't the home page but does seem to be influencing some searches.

Not sure what you mean by 'My Start'. Where on the desktop is it situated?

A better question is which version of IE do you use? I don't have a search bar in IE9 as it is the addy bar.

Evening Dave. Win XP & Int Explorer 8. It is a search box to the right of the address bar at the top.

I know I'm talking to my self here but if IE8 then in the search bar to the right of the addy bar, click on the tiny down arrow showing the default search engine. At the bottom of the list select manage searches or words to that effect.

Sorry Legslip , cross posting and worst of all working from memory.

If I remember correctly, it is an item added by Incredimail, you might even find it in Add/Remove Programs, if so, you can uninstall it in the usual way.

Apologies if I am wrong!

Also check in add/remove if you've got something there pertaining to my search. Sounds like a smiley crap downloaded with a freebie program. Uninstall whatever you see that seems to point to this and run Malwarebytes after. Should get rid of it.

Something like that Nontek .

Yep it is a remnant from Incredimail but have removed that and nothing now shows in add/remove progs. Malewarebytes/Superantispyware doesnt remove it. Have gone to 'Manage Search Providers' and there are a few listed including Bing. I can click on remove on any of them except Mystart where the remove button is not active.

Just had an idea...... think I might try and reload Incredimail then uninstall with Revo Uninstaller using the Advanced setting. Worth a try?

I'd go for running SAS and Malwarebytes in safe mode first.
