How much space for system restore?

XP Pro SP2
I have 65GB free space on a 331GB HDD. What would be an appropriate % of the drive to allocate to system restore? It is currently set at 4%.

I have mine set at maximum with about half of my 80 gig hardrive space free.It doesn't use up much space on an xp machine compared to vista one.

The Default setting for System Restore is 12 per cent (when XP was first released hard drive capacities were very much smaller than today's three-figure GB offerings).

Even on a 60GB hard drive I only had the setting at five per cent, which proved more than ample and, with even larger capacity drives, a smaller percentage can be configured.

Even one per cent on a 320GB drive means 3.2GB is available to System restore.

I've left mine at the default which I think is 12%. To be honest I never let my hard drive get as full as yours, I'm sure theres a lot of stuff on your drive you don't need and never use and think you should try to clear up some space. And backup what you can't do without.
What will you do if the hard drive fails if you have no backup?
