How to format a cctv hard drive

  petervanwyk 15:52 02 Oct 2018

Good day.

I live in South Africa and have a problem to format a hard disk. I got the 5oogig disk from a friend that removed the hard drive from a cctv recorder.

If I connect it to the computer it does not show. I want to use it as a third disk to store my documents. If you go to the Device manager it shows that the disk is there, but nothing at My Computer. So, I can't do anything to format it.

Can you PLEASE help me with this problem?

Regards Peter

It will not show in My computer because it is formatted in a linux file system probably ext2

In disk management - right click on the disk and select format. If format is not available there you may have to select initialise first.
