how to exit programs properly.

this may be a stupid question but just wondering.when i close most programs that run in a window,i always just click the x top right instead of using file/exit.

is there a correct way to close the program?

That will do fine for most programs. If they have an obviouse Exit or Close button, then you can use it.

If your not suppose to use it then why is it there. With a DOS prompt you should probably type exit and hit enter, but most other windows shouldn't matter. It's just the same as ALT F4, and again why create a keyboard short cut if you shouldn't use it.

Hi, It is just a matter of self preference. If you were to really dig into your workings you would probably find about a dozen ways of doing the same thing without causing the slightest harm. Cheers, Bill

They do the same thing - also you can click on the tiny icon on the title bar, in the top left - and chose Close - or just do Alt-F4

Or right click any where on the title bar!

Or double click any where on the title bar.
