How to exit chkdsk?

  Daibus 16:46 05 Apr 2010

I had trouble running Chkdsk/f but the 3 stages did eventually run and the final stage was marked 100% but then some other messages appeared saying no room on the disc, or words to that effect.

I then thought the process was completed and manually switched off the computer but there was a big problem booting up the PC again, but I did eventually manage it.

I will go through chkdsk/f again as there is an error on the PC but when this operation has completed does it tell you and then exit itself or do you have to exit manually, and if so which is the safest way to do that?

Many thanks.

If your checking C: drive it will do it on next boot up then It will exit itself into windows.

Many thanks for your reply but upon starting chkdsk again it again hangs on 6% so back to square one.

There seems to be a problem with the file settings.sol found in Macromedia applications as Google Chrome signified that I should delete it but cannot do as it says it can't be read.

Any ideas.

I think your hanging problem may be linked to lack of hard drive space.

Try deleting or moving data to another drive.
