how do you clear the address bar in windows xp
ive used a programme called madesafe but it didnt clear it

Tools/Internet Options, General tab, Clear History button.

This will, of course, delete your History as well.

If you also set the History retention to 0 days this will also help, but you won't have any history of sites visited if you wish to recall them....;-)

Just found this on TweakXP.com:

Clearing the address bar addresses.

Just clearing the browser history will not do this as a registry modification is needed to prevent anyone finding out what URLs you have visited:

Click on Start, then Run.
Type regedit in the box provided.

In Regedit navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Typed URLs

Then delete all of the keys that list the URLs you no longer want to see.
