How do I stop a program loading at startup?

Every time I boot my Windows 7 laptop a webpage called Slashdot opens. I can't find any reference to it in msconfig or "delete programs". It's driving me nuts - how can I stop it?

Tap Window button -a popup menu shows on the a clutch of prgrams that start on boot. Is the program there?

If it is,right click then 'Remve from list'

I don't think that list shows other than recently opened progs. He says he's looked at msconfig which does show boot progs.

Sounds as if a URL link might be being executed.

There are several places that it could be run from.

A good tool to inspect these is Ccleaner (install if you haven't already).

In Ccleaner, go to Tools, Startup and look at the information in the various tabs to see if anything relevant. In particular look at the Windows and Scheduled Tasks tabs.
