How do i secure wireless network?

  [DELETED] 19:42 09 Feb 2006

For some time now i have been running my wireless BT broadband connection at home with no problems. However, when my friend booted up his laptop round my house, he was able to access my network instantly. It got me thinking, (with people living above and next to me) how can i secure my network (as least difficult as possible) so that other pc's in range can't access my nework.

Many thanks

Wireless security guide here

Assuming you are using XP, if not ignore the WPA-PSK stuff and use a long random WEP key - generate a random key here click here

And change the default password on your access point

Also read this thread click here and adapt the advice that I gave to your router's settings. The terminology will be largely the same.

Your router will then only allow machines that have been authorised, access to your radio network.

MAC filtering is covered in my post in the aforementioned thread.
