How do I dual boot XP on my Vista PC

I installed Vista Home Premium 64 and some extra memory a couple of months ago. I'm happy with it except that I cannot install the design programme that I only bought a couple of months ago.

I've now got a legitimate copy of XP and want to install that as a dual boot operating system. I'd only use it to run my design programme which isn't often.

My partner said to just put the XP disc in the drive and the PC will bring options up which are self explanitory. But when I did so a window came up to select which operating system, but only Vista was listed and nowhere to select install.

Can anybody talk me through the install?

My PC is still set to look at the cd drive before it boots as I haven't been back into the PC since I set Vista up. That was a learning curve for me, and I'm not sure if I can remember how to go about it.

Thanks
