How do I convert cd-rom for win 95 to xp

  athlete 19:50 25 Sep 2008

Hi - I am unable to load a cd-rom to my xp computer. I purchased the cd-rom in 1997 and it states for win 3.11 or win 95. I can't find an xp version for sale and wonder if there is a way to convert the disk. The cd-rom is called The Music File and is a reference database of UK pop and rock releases. Thanks - Jon

Have you tried running it in Compatibility Mode?

click here this will show you how to run your disc in compatiblity mode.

No promises though as it is an old disc.

Thanks for the link, Technotiger and skidzy. Unfortunately I think the disc may be too old, as I'm getting incompatibility error messages. The biggest file on the disc (at 358 mb) is an 'M14 File', but I'm not sure if that helps.

The only program I never got to run on XP was the original Tomb Raider and that was because it was a DOS game not a windows game, many did get it running with a series of patches etc but they wouldn't work with me. All other programs have been fine.
If it won't even install then you just run the compatability mode wizard (with the disk in the drive) and ask the computer to install the disk thats in the drive in Windows 95 mode and see if that works.
