How do i close port 1002 & Upnp port?

Hi all, have built & installed new pc, loaded win XP home and Sygate personal firewall Ver.5.5 build 2525.

I ran a test at Shields Up and Sygate (S.O.S) and shields up reported port 1002 open with sygate reporting Upnp (universal plug & play) port open.

Should i get them closed?
If so how can i do it?

Thanks as ever,

You can demonstrate this for yourself by issuing the command "netstat -an" at a command prompt. While the SSDP Discovery service is running, Netstat will show that TCP port 5000 is in the listening state and UDP port 1900 is accepting inbound datagrams. After the SSDP Discovery Service has been stopped those Netstat lines will disappear

Cheers for the info -unpnp port now closed.

Port 1002 still open (relates to me using ICS - internet connection sharing - Take a look at this for further info. click here

Perhaps a lot of users have this port open without knowing about it.

Got to log off now - Wife is going to down me! Been on the PC all afternoon.

Any further thoughts welcome.
