How can i turn off the windows firewall

  Doire_Bhoy 08:54 20 Dec 2005

My brother is still having issues with installing XP SP2.

His pc hangs after he installs it. He has defraged his pc, cleared out his temp folder and disabled his anti virus.

His pc is part of a home network and he has been told that his firewall is causing problems with SP2.

I seem to forget where to go to see if windows firewall is still on. I use Zone Alarm myself.

Almost all issues with the installation of SP2 are due to errors or faults in the system you are attempting to install it to.

If there are system errors, viruses or other malware then SP2 usually fails to install.

Your brother would be better off starting again with a fresh install of XP and then SP2
