Hijacked IE6 browser

  richierich 21:08 24 Jul 2003

Browser keeps starting up at a dodgy website despite being reset.
Has happened again.
Have run updated Norton AV, AVG, ad aware and spybot but problem is still there when I restart the pc.
I believe it is a trojan, any ideas from all you clever people please.

before running any spyware programme

clean out all internet temp files and also delete all cookies

once you have cleaned them all that let adaware run

make sure the activate in depth scan is set

Porn sites use all kinds of tricks to get at your browser. Things like changing the no button to yes etc. I had a similar problem but I just had to use dial up properties to change the home page back to bt. Porn sites are always first to take advantage of new tech.

Download this small (394KB) programme and it will protect you browser against any sites that try to take it over click here I've been using this programme now for quite a while and never had any problems with attempted takeovers.

Get StartPage Guard from click here

Install and run. Click on the padlock at the top left and this will enable you to enter your preferred home page in the address box. Then click the padlock again to lock it.
